The Band 8 maths — read this first This is the single most useful page in the whole plan. IELTS gives you four scores. It adds them, divides by four, then rounds to the nearest half band. You do not need 8.0 in all four parts. The lowest total that gives you 8.0 overall is 31.0, because 31 ÷ 4 = 7.75, and IELTS rounds 7.75 up to 8.0.
