HSC English 1st Paper — A+ Guideline HSC 2027 & 2028 Phase 2 — Months 8 to 5: Fill the shortlist • Finish all of Tier 1 and Tier 2 in every writing item (Section 5). That is roughly 15 paragraphs, 12 stories, 12 letters/e-mails, 10 graph descriptions, 10 poem themes. • Two full board questions a month, from two different boards, timed and self-marked. • 30 minutes a week on rearranging and cloze drills. Nothing else. It is enough. • Start reading past board questions rather than answers — you are learning what the examiners ask, not what a guide book replies. Phase 3 — Months 4 to 2: Turn knowledge into speed • One complete 3-hour paper every week, at exam time of day, in one sitting. Mark it yourself against the board’s answer script conventions the same evening. • Convert your shortlist into skeletons: for each prepared paragraph, a five-line spine you can expand under pressure. You should be able to write any Tier-1 paragraph from its skeleton in 15 minutes. • Attack whichever question your test papers show as your weakest. It is almost always Q3 (summary) or Q10 (graph).
